The Brief: The existing outdoor space of the clients’ property near London Fields was more of a concrete yard than a garden. But having done a fantastic job on the interior, this young couple wanted help to transform it into an outdoor room for eating out and entertaining.

The Solution: The clients were keen to have a pizza oven and so we designed a mini outdoor kitchen with a zinc countertop and storage units underneath. The garden was wrapped with horizontal cedar trellis – after reinstating a boundary wall in old stock bricks. The contemporary garden design used hardwood deck and porcelain paving to give a crisp finish, softened by an informal planting scheme. Furniture and planters were carefully selected to complement the design, and garden lighting was installed to extend the garden’s use well into into the evening.
