Jenny Bloom Garden Design
Suntrap Garden, London E2
The Brief: This tiny south facing garden just off Columbia Road flower market was overgrown with climbers making the space feel even smaller. The clients wanted to turn it into a more useable and conducive garden to sit out in and extend their living space.
The Solution: A sandstone patio wraps around the house and steps up to a circular hardwood deck. The overgrown boundaries are cut back and replaced with the clean lines of contemporary horizontal trellis. Designed as a flexible space, there is now room for table and chairs for eating out or for deckchairs and beanbags for relaxing in the sun. The corner raised bed also provides extra perching places for guests when entertaining. The new planting scheme makes the most of the sunny aspect with a mix of shrubs, grasses, perennials and herbs.
