The Brief: Having taken care with the interior of their home, these clients were keen to transform their rustic urban garden into something far more contemporary. They wanted a private space where they could chill out and entertain in their sunny south facing garden.

The Solution: This design uses strong geometry to create two adjoining areas that can be used for eating or lounging. New rendered walls and raised beds add a sculptural feel and the garden is wrapped with contemporary horizontal trellis to lend privacy. The walls and hardwood deck are softened by a planting scheme that includes a specimen olive tree, along with sun-loving lavenders, herbs, grasses and fragrant climbers. The garden is now very much an outdoor room and has extended the clients’ living space (and is also a strong selling point for their airbnb visitors!).
